Goodman Theater
It's one of Chicago's oldest theaters ... a non-profit organization.
The Goodman was founded in 1925 as a tribute to the Chicago playwright Kenneth Sawyer Goodman, who had died of pneumonia in 1918. The theater was funded by Goodman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William O. Goodman, who donated USD$350,000 to the Art Institute of Chicago to establish a professional repertory company and a school of drama at the Institute. Bronze Cow
This Bronze Cow stands outside the Chicago Cultural Center. It is the last one remaining of the "public art" competition that took place in 1999, inspired by a similar event which had taken place in Zurich, Switzerland the year before. A herd of ornate but life-size bovine effigies appeared in the downtown in "Cows on Parade." Chicago long ago was the epicenter of the American meat packing industry
